CommissionOnCancerSoutheast Alabama Medical Center is a Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited institution. CoC-accredited facilities diagnose and/or treat more than 70 percent of all newly diagnosed cancer patients each year and offer their patients with cancer:

  • A multidisciplinary, team approach
  • Information and education
  • Patient-centered services
  • Options for genetic assessment and counseling, and palliative care services
  • Care monitoring and quality improvement
  • Treatment planning based on evidence-based national treatment guidelines

  • Follow-up care including a survivorship care plan
  • Patient tracking through the cancer data system

SAMC’s Comprehensive Breast CenterACR_BreastImaging_forText_129x131 is a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE). The BICOE designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the American College of Radiology’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
