Osteoporosis Care Center

PrintE-mail

To address the serious issues surrounding osteoporosis (a disease primarily affecting older women in which bones become fragile and more likely to break), SAMC has developed an Osteoporosis Care Center.

Guided by research from the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the Osteoporosis Care Center's program assists individuals in coping with and preventing progression of osteoporosis.

The Care Center's program has education and exercise classes specifically designed for the four different stages of the disease:

  • Evaluation of posture, strength, flexibility
  • Proper exercise instruction
  • Balance training (including how to prevent falls)
  • Nutrition education with a registered dietitian
  • Prevention of other skeletal problems

Admission to the Osteoporosis Care Center's program is by physician referral. For more information on the program, contact your physician or the SAMC Osteoporosis Care Center at 334-793-8726.
