As the region’s leader in cancer care, SAMC announces a new program developed in conjunction with WTVY-News 4 to provide cancer awareness and education. Known as Buddy Check 4, this complimentary program is designed to remind people each month, via email or text messaging, the risk factors for all types of cancer. Awareness, education and early detection help save lives.
To kick off Buddy Check 4, WTVY news anchor Gina Pitisci broadcast her "Live at Lunch" news program live from the lobby of SAMC's Women's Center. The broadcast included stories about cancer awareness, treatment and support, featuring health care and cancer experts from SAMC. Pitisci also interviewed Dr. Steve Stokes and Cindy Tanton, RN live during the broadcast.
Every year almost 1,300 Wiregrass residents are diagnosed with cancer, not to mention the thousands of other people who are touched by cancer through family and friends. SAMC offers the latest technology, dedicated staff and highly trained physicians throughout its cancer network of clinics in Dothan, Enterprise and Marianna, Fla.
WTVY, on the 4th day of each month, will dedicate its Live at Lunch show to cancer awareness and education. Live at Lunch airs from noon to 12:30 p.m.
Sign up for Buddy Check 4 by visiting www.samc.org or by calling 1-800-735-4998. When you sign up, you will receive a packet of information that includes cancer awareness reminders.
