Reduce Risk for Skin Cancer with Sun Exposure Tips

WARNING: Exposure to the sun’s UV rays can damage your skin. It takes only eight minutes for UV rays to travel from the sun to Earth. Those rays can damage skin and lead to skin cancer. Covering up is the best defense. Excellent ways to cover up include wearing extra clothes and a wide brimmed hat. Find some shade. Whenever possible, avoid the midday sun. And, wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. (adapted from information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Physicians use newborn stem cells to treat more than 70 serious conditions, including leukemia and sickle cell anemia. Cord Blood Awareness Month focuses on educating expectant mothers about the option to save newborn stem cells.
