Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine

SAMC announced on May 18, 2010 the development of Alabama’s first college of osteopathic medicine to help fill the state’s shortage of an estimated 400 primary care physicians.

Developed by the Houston County Health Care Authority and operated by a private, not-for-profit board with local and state representation, the college plans to enroll its first class of 150 students in the fall of 2013.
