SAMC's Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) is a mental health inpatient program for adults ages 19 and over who are in acute crisis due to mental illness, emotional distress or destructive behavior patterns.
The program is designed to stabilize patients who require a more controlled environment for healing and growth with the goal of easing them back into a return to their everyday routines.
Our highly experienced team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and others provide intensive care to those individuals whose mental health status requires they be treated within a secure environment. In the ITP, we believe people are entitled to high-quality care in an environment that is safe, therapeutic and offers individual choice.
Our ITP includes:
- Crisis stabilization with medication management
- Medical evaluation
- Treatment planning
- Individual therapy
- Insight-oriented group therapy
- Family therapy
- A 24-hour staff presence
- Discharge planning and aftercare
We specialize in assessing and treating people who have severe and/or enduring mental health problems through the establishment of a treatment plan, with input from the patient and their families.
The ITP is a specialized area of the Medical Center which allows for closer observation. Our ITP is the region's largest hospital-based inpatient program.
