Frequently Asked Questions

- Insurance and Fees
Will your office help me deal with my insurance company?
Yes. Our knowledgeable billing staff will check your coverage and submit all appropriate claims (including appeals) for our services to the insurance carrier on your behalf.
If SAMC and the NeuroSpine Center are considered “out of network”, will my insurance company pay their fees?
Most insurance companies provide partial coverage for out-of-network benefits. You will be billed directly for the difference in partial coverage and the actual fees.
Will I get separate bills from Southeast Alabama Medical Center and the NeuroSpine Center?
Yes. Hospital charges and surgical fees are separate. Typically, the hospital fees include charges for the operating room, hospital stay, anesthesia, and pathology. The fees for the surgeons of the NeuroSpine Center for performing surgery are a separate charge.
Will my surgical treatment be covered by my healthcare insurance provider?
Insurance coverage varies by company and by your individual coverage plan. Your insurance company will pay a portion of the fees and you will be responsible for the balance. When you provide us your insurance information, our staff will help you define exactly what portion of your charges will be covered by insurance and what portion you will be responsible for paying.
