Appointment Tips

  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment if you are an existing patient and 30 minutes before your appointment if you are a new patient. New patient paperwork can be found on this website under “Forms”.
  • Please bring your insurance card and photo ID to every appointment. Insurance coverages change regularly throughout the year. We need to verify your insurance at each visit.
  • Please be prepared to pay your co-pay or deductible at the time of your appointment. Your insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. Failure to pay co-pays and deductibles can result in termination of your insurance coverage.
  • Please call ahead if you must cancel your appointment so we can accommodate another patient.
  • If you arrive 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to re-schedule to the next available appointment. Our days vary, but if the providers’ schedules are full – and you are late – we will not be able to see you. Screening appointments will need to be re-scheduled as these are longer appointments and require the presence of additional staff.
  • No show appointments are tracked. A no show appointment is an appointment that is missed without proper cancellation. Three or more “no show” appointments could result in your being dismissed from the clinic.
  • Please bring all medications you are currently taking to your appointments. We do review these at each appointment to be sure we have an accurate list for our records. This helps we have accurate information when refills are requested.
  • Please turn off cell phones in the examination rooms so we can have your full attention.
  • Work-in appointments for pediatrics can be made by calling 334-393-PEDS (7337) starting at 8:00 a.m. Please remain on the line and Nikki or Renee will assist you.
  • Work-in appointments for Internal Medicine can be made by calling 334-347-3404 starting at 8:00 a.m. Please remain on the line when you call, as all work-in appointments are made by the switchboard operators except for Dr. Alan Young’s work-in appointments. For his work-in appointments, you will be transferred to his nurse and be asked to leave a message. Please leave your name, date of birth, the reason for you work-in needs and a good number where we can contact you. We will call you back as soon as possible to schedule your appointment.
Billing

  • Payment is expected at each visit. Co-pays will be collected prior to seeing your provider. Cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.
  • If an x-ray is ordered by your provider, it will be sent to a radiologist to be reviewed. You will receive a separate bill for this service.
  • When lab work that is not performed in our office is ordered, the specimen will be sent to another location to be processed. You will receive a separate bill for this service.

Insurance

  • Assignment is accepted for most insurance, as well as Medicare and Medicaid of Alabama. Please bring your insurance cards and photo ID to all of your visits. Insurance coverage is always changing and we verify your insurance coverage at each visit. Please be prepared to pay your co-pay or deductible prior to seeing your provider.
  • We will promptly file with your insurance company; however, we are not responsible if your insurance does not pay. We do have Insurance Representatives to assist you if you feel you have received an incorrect bill. Please call MedNet Services at 1-800-248-7057. If they are not able to adequately assist you, please call the office and ask to speak with Elisabeth or Mary, for Internal Medicine claims, or June for Pediatric claims.
  • Please familiarize yourself with your insurance coverage prior to coming to your appointment to be sure you are covered for the services at the clinic. Some insurance companies require a physician referral to see our providers and some insurance policies do not cover Nurse Practitioner services. If you have questions about your covered services, call the number on the back of your insurance card and they should be able to assist you.
  • Medicaid patients, as well as Tricare Prime patients, are assigned to a primary care provider (PCP). If you are assigned to someone other than the physicians at the Enterprise Medical Clinic, you will need a referral to be seen in our clinic. Please call your insurance company to request a referral or to change your PCP.

Self-Pay Patients

  • A self-pay patient is a patient who has no medical insurance coverage.
  • All self-pay patients must be prepared to pay for the appointment at the time services are rendered. If you are unable to pay at the time of service, you will need to speak further with our receptionists to set up a payment plan.
  • For pediatrics, the person accompanying the child to the appointment is responsible for payment at the time of the visit. This includes parents, grandparents, caretakers, friends, etc. We are happy to provide you with a receipt of the visit for your records.

Office Hours
Our office hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Our switchboard operators are committed to assisting you with making same day, or work-in appointments, answering basic questions, and getting you in touch with the staff you need to get your questions answered in a timely fashion. Our internal medicine department also has an after-hours nurses’ line in case you have questions regarding an urgent healthcare issue, general healthcare questions or just need advice. The after-hours nurses’ line is 1-800-457-6307.

Your healthcare is very important to us. If you have a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, please go to the nearest emergency room or dial 911.

Refills and Referrals
Our phone nurses work hard to meet our patients’ refill and referral needs. Please allow us 24 hours for refills and 48-72 hours for referrals.

Controlled substance prescriptions must be picked up at the front desk and can only be refilled every 30 days. We monitor these prescriptions very closely. We ask that you use only one pharmacy and you not ask for early refills. Any abuse of controlled prescriptions could result in your being dismissed from the clinic.
When you call, please leave only one message.

For refill requests, please leave your name, date of birth, the name of the prescription you need filled and the pharmacy you would like to use. You will only be contacted if there is a problem; otherwise, check with your pharmacy.

Please allow us 24 hours to process your request. Some prescriptions require precertification. These requests will require additional time to refill as we must contact your insurance company first.

If you have paperwork that needs to be completed by your provider, please call to make an appointment. Please be sure to let the switchboard operator know why you are requesting this appointment so she can alert the provider.
