Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to welcome Mary J. Misischia, DO, medical oncologist, to Southeast Cancer Care.
Southeast Cancer Care is another example of SAMC’s commitment to provide comprehensive oncology services in this region. Southeast Cancer Care is part of the Southeast Alabama Medical Group (SAMG) family of primary care and specialty clinics. It is located in Suite 200 of the SAMC Doctors Building.
Dr. Misischia, who is board certified in medical oncology, has been in Dothan since 2015 and she comes to Southeast Cancer Care from Dothan Hematology and Oncology. Prior to relocating in Dothan, Dr. Misischia was part of the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire, Wisconsin where she served as assistant medical director of patient safety. She has also practiced in clinics and hospitals in Missouri, Tennessee and Alabama.
Dr. Misischia received her bachelor’s degree from the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. She earned her medical degree at Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Baptist Health System in Birmingham and a fellowship in oncology at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham.
Dr. Misischia is married to Richard Misischia, DO, Rheumatology. They have a son, Richard, 21, and a daughter, Sam 19, who both attend Birmingham Southern College.
